At WaterCartridge.com, we stand behind the quality of our products. This Return & Refund Policy outlines your statutory rights under Irish and EU consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2022 and the European Union (Consumer Information, Cancellation and Other Rights) Regulations 2013.
To initiate a return, please contact us at info@watercartridge.com with your order number and the reason for the return.
1. Your Right to Cancel (Cooling-Off Period)
- Under EU law, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your goods, without giving any reason.
- To exercise this right, you must inform us of your decision to cancel within this 14-day period.
- Once you have notified us, you have a further 14 days to return the goods to us.
2. The Hygiene Exemption (Crucial for Water Filters)
Water filter cartridges are sealed for health protection and hygiene purposes. Under Regulation 13(1)(e) of the EU Consumer Rights Regulations, the right to cancel does not apply to goods that are unsealed by the consumer after delivery.
Because our cartridges are universal and fit a wide variety of pitcher brands, you are strictly responsible for verifying compatibility before opening the protective wrapping. Once the sealed packaging of a filter has been opened, broken, or tampered with, it is strictly non-returnable and non-refundable unless the item is proven to be faulty.
3. Faulty or Defective Goods
You have distinct statutory rights if the goods supplied are not of merchantable quality, not fit for purpose, or not as described.
- If you receive a faulty item, please contact us immediately at info@watercartridge.com with photos and a description of the defect.
- For faulty goods, we will provide a full refund, repair, or replacement, and we will cover the return shipping costs.
4. How to Return an Item
- Email info@watercartridge.com with your order number to request a return.
- We will provide you with the return address in Ireland.
- Pack the unused, perfectly sealed items securely to prevent damage in transit.
- We strongly recommend using a tracked delivery service via An Post, as we cannot be held responsible for return items lost in the mail.
5. Return Shipping Costs
- Change of mind: If you are returning an item because you changed your mind or ordered the wrong product, you are responsible for paying the return shipping costs.
- Faulty goods / Our error: If the return is due to an error on our part or a defective product, we will refund your return postage costs.
6. Refunds
- Once your return is received and inspected to ensure the hygiene seals are intact, we will process your refund.
- We will refund the price of the goods and the standard original delivery cost (if applicable). We do not refund express delivery upgrades.
- Refunds are always issued back to the original payment method (e.g., via Stripe) and may take 5-10 business days to appear on your bank statement.
